They say that change is the only constant thing in life. We are constantly faced with new challenges, situations and decisions that change us. Sometimes change is drastic other times it is so subtle that we only notice it after it is complete.
The idea of change is intimidating because we are used to what we know and the unknown seems so uncertain. One of the most amazing things about change however, is that it opens you up to new horizons and dimensions that you didn’t know you could function in.
Currently, the world is forced to face the change that follows in the wake of the pandemic. Everyone will have to adapt to a ‘new normal’. With social distancing, use of facemasks, hand washing and personal hygiene becoming commonplace.
Even the face of our healthcare systems will be changed forever. Life will not remain the same after this. While some people have their lives after the pandemic all figured out, most people do not. If you are one of the latter, you are not alone.
To ensure that this change does not overwhelm you, remind yourself that you have experienced change before. Yes, you have and you came through it better. Appreciate how far you’ve come.
Focus on living one day at a time and facing one challenge at a time. When you break it into small pieces, change doesn’t seem intimidating anymore. Look on the brighter side of things when this storm blows over, you will be stronger, wiser and better. Most importantly, don’t waste this period, rather make the most of it.
Remember, change is coming and it is coming for everyone. The question is, “will you be ready?”
